Denver sits right on the edge of the Rocky Mountains, which rise starkly out of the Great Plains. If you want to see some of the best that the mountains have to offer, this is your place.

While it does require some driving, if you have the time, these places are worth it.

Towering peaks, crystal-clear lakes, and sweeping meadows make it one of the most iconic landscapes in Colorado. Visitors can enjoy scenic drives, incredible hiking, wildlife viewing, and photo opportunities in every season. It’s a perfect day trip for anyone wanting to experience the beauty of the Rockies.

Garden of the Gods is a stunning natural landmark known for its towering red rock formations set against the backdrop of Pikes Peak. Located in Colorado Springs, it’s about a 1 to 1.25 hour drive south of Denver. The park is especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset, when the rocks glow with warm color.
